Computer technology includes Internet utilization, cloud computing, data storage and collection, mobile computing and applications, networking and network systems, Microsoft applications, and information security. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics: The Occupational outlook in computer technology is excellent, with an expected growth of 12 percent from 2014 to 2024, adding about 488,500 new jobs to the computing sector.

Public Service careers are those provided by the government for the betterment of the people of the jurisdiction within which they live. Police protection, criminal justice, corrections, human services, fire and emergency safety, and public health are careers in the public service sector.

From small local stores to large corporations, business drives the economy, and provides goods and services to consumers in the for-profit, non-profit, and governmental sectors.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Employment of business and financial operations occupations is projected to grow from 2014 to 2024 by 8 percent, adding about 632,400 new jobs.

Advanced Manufacturing uses computerized and mechanical systems and equipment to produce new goods and products. Machining, welding, and mechatronics are common professions within the Advanced Manufacturing sector.

Short-Term training provides non-credit training classes that can be completed in 14 weeks or less for in-demand careers within the Wytheville Community College service region.
